The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to build the knowledge, skill and competence required for participation in higher education, including acquiring a broad range of knowledge in an area of personal interest, and key skills for academic research and enquiry.
Career Opportunities & Progression Routes
This course allows students apply for a range of third level Arts courses through the QQI entry system. The course is a recognised progression route to Arts in NUI Maynooth, UCD, UCG and UCC as well as Humanities courses in Institutes of Technology nationwide.
This course is aimed at students who have completed the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, Leaving Certificate Vocational and mature students who would like to return to education, training and employment.

Examination fees: QQI Level 5 €50 QQI Level 6 €60
Fees charged by professional bodies - These will be outlined under Additional fees for applicable courses.
Additional costs which may include: Books, Uniforms, /Clothing and Equipment (e.g. Chefs Knives etc.)
Note 1: A non-refundable deposit of €50 to reserve a place on a PLC course.
Note 2: The following categories of participant are exempt from paying the contribution:
- Full medical Card holders in their own right and their dependent children
- Those who are eligible under the student grant scheme
- Those in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance (BTEA)
