Course Aim

The aim of this programme is to enable the learner to build the knowledge, skill and competence required for participation in higher education, including acquiring a broad range of knowledge in an area of personal interest, and key skills for academic research and enquiry.

Career Opportunities & Progression Routes

This course allows students apply for a range of third level Arts courses through the QQI entry system.  The course is a recognised progression route to Arts in NUI Maynooth, UCD, UCG and UCC as well as Humanities courses in Institutes of Technology nationwide.

Entry Requirements

This course is aimed at students who have completed the Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied, Leaving Certificate Vocational and mature students who would like to return to education, training and employment.

Government Levy €200.00*

*Participants are exempt if they:

  • are in receipt of BTEA or VTOS allowance
  • Are eligible for a SUSI Grant
  • Have a full Medical Card

QQI level 5 exam fee €50**

QQI level 6 exam fee €80**

  • Have a full medical card
